It’s hard to find the right words to describe how I feel about this shoot. I approached Angela Head around Christmas time and asked her if she would design me a head piece for Bret so we could take some photos in their backyard. She was immediately on board! I had NO IDEA that it would turn out this bad ass!
Angela is a local florist who had been in the game for over 30 years and she is incredible. Her eye for design and composition is amazing and I knew I was in for a treat when she agreed to design this piece for me. She is a true artist of her craft and the way she put together this head piece for Bret blew me away. I can’t thank her enough for collaborating with me and for this beautiful creation!
When we got to her house I had not seen the final product yet. She took us downstairs to show us and my jaw dropped! It was everything I was hoping for and so much more! Bret tried it on and it looked amazing!
We then got some long underwear, and she started to make his costume. We did some cuts to the top and bottoms, and then Angie went out and rolled the clothes in the dirt to give it more of a lived in feeling. I really wanted Bret to look like he was one with the woods. We then took some baby oil and added it to some coffee grounds and smeared it all over Bret. I wanted to have a layer of texture to just add a bit of ‘something’ to the photos.
Then the 3 of us set out on the journey of finding places to shoot in her backyard in the woods. Her backyard is incredible so it wasn’t too hard to find great spots. I am so happy with how these images turned out and I am so exited to work with Angela again on more projects! This is just the beginning! HUGE thank you to my boo, Bret Phillips, for being my handsome model and such a good sport during this whole thing! You were amazing!
