When Sarah emailed me and told me she was getting ready to apply to colleges and needed an updated actor headshot for her theater/College of the Arts audition I knew she came to the right place. I love the theater! I love musicals, live plays, dance, improve, you name it! I was a part of my drama department in high school (mostly behind the scenes) and I have crazy respect for artists that get up there and perform their hearts out day in and day out.
Sarah was a bit timid at first but that quickly changed once we got her in the hair and make up chair with the amazing Beth Corbley. We talked to her about her college of choice, how long she’s been acting, if she was scared to go to college, etc. Before we knew it she was relaxed and having a great time. We kept her shoot very natural with hair, makeup and clothing.
When shooting actors I want to really focus on their personality, facial expressions and features so when they go into a casting they still look like themselves. We shot a couple different looks in studio with strobes but it wasn’t until we put her in a doorway and let the natural light hit her face that we really began to see her. The featured image is one of my favorites and the one she used in her audition to get into Barnard College in New York!
We are so proud and excited for you Sarah!! I’m sure we will work together again in the future!
