My journey is really just beginning!
Many of you know, that in pursuit of my dream to be a photographer, I was also working full time at a production studio, Indigo Studios. I started out as the front desk girl, photo assistant, coffee go-getter, props master, studio manager, etc. Anything that the studio or crew needed, I was their girl! It was a great foot in the door for me to learn more about the industry, the business side of being creative, and running a successful team.
After about 9 months in the front desk roll, they decided to position me as the in-house photographer. This would mean that I was able to bring in clients to do portraits while also shooting for Indigo’s clients as needed. This was very few and far between due to Indigo being a mostly GCI studio, but it still allowed me the opportunity to photograph many different things. We worked on everything from products, to corporate headshots, to landscapes for backplates.
Eventually I was presented with the opportunity to shift into a project management/producer role for the studio. I was a little hesitant at first because I knew I wanted to be doing photography full time, but I also knew that this position would be a huge education opportunity and help me understand the in’s and out’s of what makes this business tick.
Boy, was I right! 7+ years later and I can honestly say that producing for the studio was the best decision I ever made. I’ve learned so much, which in turn has helped me with my photography business, giving me the tools and knowledge allowing me to tell you this big news…
As of February 15, 2018 I am 100% a full time photographer and running Leah Roth Photography, LLC.
I took the big leap to pursue my passion, my love for my clients and photography. I am forever grateful to my Indigo family and I can never thank them enough for always believing in me, teaching me so much, and giving me the knowledge to get here.
I am so excited for this journey and being able to share it with all of you. You all have been incredible to work with and have helped shaped Leah Roth Photography into what it is today.
The Last 6 Months
Though I received my college degree in Photography years ago, I’ve recently been studying under Sue Bryce, an incredible photographer and educator, as continued education in photography, lighting, posing, and business. This has really been a game changer for me.
Being a newly minted business owner, it allows me to be a part of a community of photographers who are on the same journey. We are all driven by our passion for photography, and making sure our clients have the best experience possible.
The encouragement I’ve received from this group, alongside the things I’m learning, really helped me make the decision to go full time.
Updated Branding & Website
I was super blessed to work with an incredible graphic designer while at Indigo, named Alyssa Garriga. She’s always been a huge supporter of my photography and was was kind enough to help me rebrand my whole business.
We started with the logo, which she nailed! Then we put together my color pallette around my favorite color, yellow. She also designed my business cards, stickers, and even made me a call sheet for my photoshoots so I can send out to clients and crew before their session. I am so proud to hand people my business card and I stick stickers everywhere around town.
I love my new brand and really think it represents my style!
With the new brand came the overhaul of my website. I knew I wanted something that would be easy to navigate and help answer any of my future clients questions. I wanted to pack it full with information, but not make it so overwhelming that people get confused and leave the site.
I am especially proud of our work on the navigation, the galleries of all you beautiful people, and all of my new content.
Pricing & Packages
In an effort to keep things simple and easy to understand, I’ve also made an update to my pricing structure. I’ve decreased my overall service offering, and created a couple of packages that make it clear of what you’ll get when we work together.
What's Next for LRP
Now that I am full time, you’ll be hearing from me more often. I will continue to use my social media accounts to share some of my favorite people and shoots.
I’m really passionate about photographing dance and dancers, beauty portraits, and personal branding headshots, so I will be spending as much time as possible doing that.
Thank you for being on this journey with me so far. It’s been a long one, and we are just getting started!
Please consider me for any ideas you have, I look forward to hearing from you.
